Their needs run from keeping hydrated and electrolytes balanced, to nutrition to keep them from working hungry, to keeping them cool in the heat of summers and warm in the cold of winters.
The reward is great, knowing the appreciation they have for our team and what we provide. We created this organization from scratch with minimal supplies back in 2015, and over the years progressed to a fantastic set up to meet many needs of responders and victims of disasters.
We could NOT do it without our fantastic team of volunteers and supporters of our mission! And, we are always looking for like-minded volunteers to help out with this mission!
I joined rehab in 2018 along with many from our local CERT team and instantly knew this is what I wanted to do forever. Finding a way to give back to my community in a way that really makes a difference was my goal – I had no idea it would be so impactful.

I’m a husband, father of 3 small red-heads and grew up in England. I moved to the US in 2007, married my soul mate and currently live in St. Charles City. I’m blessed with a career I love and being able to hangout and help our first responders, as well as aid those experiencing their worst day.
Our vision for St. Charles County FIRE REHAB is simple; continue to grow our agency from strength to strength while never forgetting core needs of our first responders and citizens that rely on us.

I volunteer with SCC Fire Rehab because my father was a firefighter for 35 years, the firehouse was my second home. My father also used to volunteer with the Salvation Army's canteen back in the 80's and I loved when I was off school and got to ride around on fire calls with Gatorade and cookies for the firefighters. I can remember the gratitude, it sticks with you for a lifetime.

I entered the fire service back in the early 1980’s. I started out has a volunteer firefighter with the now defunct SCFPD, I became an EMT and was assigned to the Rescue Squad, I found that I really enjoyed helping the community to the point that I got a job with Normandy Osteopathic Hospital North on LSV #216, I continued my education and became a Paramedic. We were the Advanced Life Support Vehicle for the surrounding areas and municipalities and their corresponding Fire Departments. Remaining a volunteer with SCFPD, I had to change careers due to an accident on a fire scene that eventually put me on disability. I’ve always missed the opportunity to serve my community, I was at a fire scene and watched how the fire rehab volunteers took care of the first responders and the displaced residents.
I jumped on the opportunity to get back into helping the community and also helping the first responders on scene anyway possible - I completed an application to join the Fire Rehab Team and here I am!
I was looking for ways to give back to the community when I came across SCC Fire Rehab. I never imagined just how rewarding it would be. I have found a new sense of purpose and met some amazing people!
I joined Rehab to give back to the community and the first responders who protect it. I am proud to be a liaison for the American Red Cross to help better serve our community in their time of need.
I joined fire rehab to help people in times of need and because I'm in a position where I understand how first responders feel on hot days being a firefighter myself.
Through my many volunteer opportunities I experienced from my youth until today, I learned the value of how many hands working together towards a common goal can overcome seemingly insurmountable odds. There is a sense of satisfaction and self-worth when working hard to help others.

I have enjoyed working in varying capacities in the emergency services as a fire, EMS and law enforcement dispatcher, and since 2001 when I went to work for the American Red Cross Disaster Services in both local and national disasters.
It was there where I learned the value of working with volunteer teams.
With the vast spread of volunteer backgrounds in their various organizations, you can utilize those skills and abilities to further the missions. Volunteers need multiple things to be successful; training, purpose, engagement, supplies and materials, but most importantly they need to have a heart for the mission. It is fulfilling to provide the needs to volunteers, and then watch the miracles happen for these extremely capable and compassionate people
I was a firefighter/engineer for 27 years standing on the receiving side of those tables, I told my self that when I retire I was going to join this awesome group of people and help the next group of firefighters, so here I am.
